tozero secures EIC Accelerator funding from European Innovation Council

Munich, Germany – 19.07.2024 tozero has been awarded funding by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator program, recognizing its pioneering efforts in lithium-ion battery recycling. Belonging to the top 68 applicants, tozero GmbH was chosen from 969 companies and will receive a €2.5M grant. This achievement follows a rigorous process in which 347 companies were interviewed by a jury of experienced investors, domain experts and entrepreneurs around the three criteria .
The EIC Accelerator as a part of Horizon Europe (EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation), supports start-ups and SMEs with innovative, game-changing products, services, or business models that have the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones in Europe and globally. The chosen companies, span 17 countries and notably 21% of these are led by women. tozero is happy, to be one of them!
The support from EIC not only provides financial backing but also opens doors to valuable networks, mentors, and global opportunities. Aligned with the purpose of Horizon Europe and NextGenerationEU initiatives, this grant positions tozero at the forefront of advancing sustainable innovation and strengthening Europe's global competitiveness helping to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

The company's mission is to establish Europe's leading lithium-ion battery recycling plant, focused on recovering critical materials such as lithium and graphite in a sustainable way.
